Back in 1975, Laurence Francis founded Springpack in the garage of their home. Laurence delivered packaging to customers in his estate car, while Helen answered the calls and processed the orders.

The next four years flew by, and as Springpack’s customer base grew, Laurence and Helen realised they needed more room. So Springpack moved into its second home – an old bakery. Complete with an oven and walls …caked… in grease and flour.

Our founders spent many hours cleaning, degreasing, and cleaning the inside again for good measure. Laurence even hired an oxy-acetylene cutter (for those of us who need to Google that, it’s a very powerful cutting tool that uses fuel and oxygen to cut through metal. A bit like welding but backwards) to cut through and remove the ovens. The Springpack team grew to three, and Laurence began making deliveries via van to a 25-mile radius.

In the blink of an eye, it was 1986. We moved again, to our 3000 sq ft warehouse, allowing us to expand our packaging range into industrial packaging solutions.

The next stop on our journey through Springpack’s history is 1990. The decade of bucket hats, AOL dial-up internet, and “The Rachel” hair cut, Springpack started this decade moving to a new warehouse, which was it’s home for the next 10 years.

When the Millenium rolled around, we moved to our first purpose built 13,500 sqftwarehouse, and it was our home for almost 20 years. Growing with us, we built an extension to 18,500sqft in 2010, and aquired a second 24000 sqft site in 2011.

2019 is when we moved to warehouse number five. Known as Berkley, this 53,000 sqft site was home to a team of over 50 people. We installed a brand new warehouse management system to enable our team to be as efficient as possible whilst picking and packing orders. This increase in space worked to cater for our ever-growing customer base, and ensured we could keep thousands of lines in stock and on hand for next day delivery.
