"Sorry We Missed You"-Proof Packaging
Letterbox-friendly packaging that actually gets delivered
We’ve all been there.
You wait in all day for a parcel. Pop to the corner shop for five minutes and that’s when the postie comes. Next thing you know, there’s a “Sorry we missed you” card on the doormat and your parcel’s gone.
Or worse, the tracking says it’s been delivered to a “safe place.” Is it in the neighbour’s hedge? Behind the recycling bin? Or maybe inside the green bin on collection day?
It’s annoying. And your customers feel exactly the same.
Missed deliveries, lost parcels, and soggy packages aren’t just frustrating. They chip away at your reputation, cost you money in replacements, and send customers straight to your competitors.
So what’s the fix? Simple. Use packaging that actually fits through the letterbox.
Missed deliveries aren’t just annoying. They’re bad for business.
Every failed delivery is a delay, a redelivery request, or a customer support headache. And if the parcel’s left out in the rain or stolen off the doorstep, that’s even worse.
When your packaging fits through the letterbox, the parcel ends up inside the house safely, a perfect delivery.
Letterbox-friendly = customer-friendly
Customers don’t want to chase down deliveries or guess where their order’s been left. They want it to arrive. First time. No drama.
Switching to letterbox-sized packaging is one of the easiest ways to keep people happy and get those five-star reviews.
More delivered parcels. Fewer complaints. Simple as that.
You're responsible for that parcel until it's delivered
Legally, you’re still responsible for the item until it gets to your customer. Unless they’ve chosen a specific safe place, it’s on you if it goes missing or turns up damaged.
So if it’s left in a wheelie bin, or it never shows up at all, you’re likely footing the bill. Upgrading to post box friendly packaging reduces the risk of the packaging being left or a “Sorry We Missed You” card being left.

How to "Sorry We Missed You"-Proof your packaging
Want to avoid the hassle? Here’s what works.
Keep it slim
Standard UK letterboxes are around 254mm wide and 38mm high. If your parcel fits through that, it’s easily deliverable.
Use proper materials
Go for rigid mailers or flat boxes that keep their shape. Floppy bags that bulge or tear aren’t going to cut it.
Packaging Recommendations:

Postal Plus Mailing Bag
A grey mailing bag, manufactured using 100% recycled content, 100% recyclable. Complete with a strong self adhesive sealing lip, they are lightweight, tough and weatherproof too.

Ocean Green Jiffy Mailer
Padded mailing bag, designed to encase products in bubble during transit.
91% recycled content bubble later, and 75GSM kraft paper outer. They're easy to use, and quick to pack.

Postal Box
A solid box designed to fit though a standard UK letterbox. Offers more protection for products in transit, without adding unnecessary bulk or weight.
Smooth texture, easy to add labels.
