Plan your packing
Plan your packing. Sounds simple, but planning which items are going into which boxes, which packaging items you will need and which room they are going into in the next house, can really save you some stress. You could also plan which rooms to pack first. For example, packing your kitchen after packing up the spare room or bits from the loft means the spaces you use the most are least effected by being packed.
Pack to Unpack
Pack the way you wish to unpack. If you need to unpack something first, pack it last. This means it will be on the top of the box, or out of the removal van first. Pack your bed and the kettle last, as there’s nothing worse than trying to locate a kettle in kitchen box #6 when you’re gasping for a brew! Same with your bed, you’ll be tired after a long day of moving, so make sure you have a comfy space to get some rest.

Packing moving boxes correctly is the best way to make sure your most prized possessions arrive at your new home safe and sound – because no one want’s their Funko Pop collection getting scratched!

Don’t overpack large boxes. Large cardboard boxes are tempting, you can fit so much inside! But only pack heavy items into double wall boxes or even triple wall boxes, as many large single wall boxes cannot withstand being filled to the brim with books – they’re better suited to bulky, yet lightweight items.Â
Label or even write on your boxes, and if you’re super organised, write a list of what’s inside. Keeping a note of what’s in which box can really help with knowing which room each box belong in, or which wardrobe boxes go to which shelf.
Choosing a good quality packing tape is essential. Cross Weave tapes, such as Reelbond Heavy are a great idea for reinforcing the bottom seal of a heavy box, as the glass fibres add extra tensile strength.
Keep the remotes with the devices they are for, and label any loose cables. This will avoid telly “Roulette” at the end of a tough day of moving in, when all you want to do is sit down with a bag of chips and watch Corrie!

Choosing the right packaging tape
Another thing to consider is the tape you’re packing with. A heavy duty tape is a great idea for heavy boxes, containing books, plates, or gym equipment, as the cross-weave fibres add extra strength to the boxes.
On the other hand, something like Reelbond Standard or Reelbond Eco will be perfect for boxes containing lighter items, like DVD’s, small appliances, clothes and towels.
